HAAR HOUSE Private Residence 510 m² Aveiro, Portugal
This house is a residential project in Portugal that seeks a highly balanced relationship between architecture and nature, creating a constant sense of calm and continuity between interior and exterior spaces. The design language is based on pure horizontal volumes and natural materials. Inside, there is a strong emphasis on the use of dark wood and tactile surfaces, creating warm, almost intimate atmospheres. The key defining element is a circular central courtyard that acts as the home’s “green heart”: it brings light, nature, and ventilation into the space while visually connecting all areas. The social areas are large and open, with the living room, kitchen, and dining room directly connected to the exterior through expansive glazing. The private spaces, such as the master bedroom and the office/library, maintain the same design language, with built-in wooden furniture and constant views towards the garden, fostering a sense of introspection. Overall, this is a house conceived as a continuous refuge between inside and outside, where material, light, and nature work in harmony to create a serene and contemplative living experience.
